What this tool is best for
- Copying text from screenshots, signs, receipts, and photographed pages.
- Turning a small scan into editable text without uploading the image to Docsy.
- Recovering supported-language text that would otherwise need to be retyped.
Tips for a better result
- Use a sharp, well-lit image with the text upright.
- Crop unrelated areas before recognition when the page contains a lot of background detail.
- Always proofread names, totals, dates, and other important values.
Know before you start
- Choose the language that matches the text in your image; Hindi + English is selected by default.
- Handwriting, decorative fonts, low contrast, blur, and complex tables can reduce accuracy.
- The OCR engine and selected language data are downloaded when you run the tool, but the selected image is processed in your browser.
Common problems and fixes
- If little text is found, rotate or crop the image and try again.
- If recognition will not start, check the internet connection needed to load the OCR engine.
- For a large photo on mobile, resize it first or use a desktop browser.
Frequently asked questions
Can I edit the result?
Yes. The recognized text appears in an editable box before you copy or download it.
Will OCR be perfectly accurate?
No. Review the result carefully, especially names, numbers, dates, and punctuation.
Is my image uploaded to Docsy?
No. Docsy processes it in your browser; the OCR engine and language data are downloaded separately when needed.
Privacy note: Docsy labels tools that process locally. File contents are never included in Google Analytics.
