Resize Image

Resize an image to exact pixel dimensions while optionally keeping its original proportions. The tool automatically fills in the source width and height after you choose a file.

How to use Resize Image

  1. Choose one supported image and wait for its current width and height to appear.
  2. Enter the new width or height. Leave Keep aspect ratio selected to calculate the other dimension automatically.
  3. Select Resize and download, then confirm the downloaded image has the dimensions you need.

What this tool is best for

  • Preparing images for websites, social profiles, forms, and document uploads.
  • Creating an exact width or height without distorting the picture.
  • Reducing image dimensions locally before using the Compress Image tool.

Tips for a better result

  • Keep aspect ratio selected for normal photos, logos, and illustrations.
  • Resize dimensions before compressing quality when you need a much smaller file.
  • Avoid enlarging a small image far beyond its original size because it can look blurry or pixelated.

Know before you start

  • Resizing changes pixel dimensions; it does not crop the image to a different shape.
  • PNG sources are downloaded as PNG. Other supported source formats are downloaded as JPG.
  • The tool processes one image at a time and does not set print DPI metadata.

Common problems and fixes

  • If the image looks stretched, turn on Keep aspect ratio and enter only the width or height you need.
  • If the file is still too large, run the resized result through Compress Image or Compress to Target Size.
  • If the browser cannot read the source, convert it to JPG or PNG first and then resize it.

Frequently asked questions

Will resizing distort my image?

Not when Keep aspect ratio is selected. Docsy automatically adjusts the other dimension to preserve the original proportions.

Which output format will I receive?

PNG input remains PNG. Other supported image formats are downloaded as JPG.

Does Docsy upload my image?

No. Image resizing runs locally in your browser.

Privacy note: Docsy labels tools that process locally. File contents are never included in Google Analytics.
